Lungs Are Getting Better

Lydia had a good day today. Her lungs are getting better. The x-ray they took this morning shows that there is a lot less water in her lungs. That is their main goal through tomorrow is to try to reduce the amount of fluids in her body. They are now using the tube in her nose to her intestines to give her as many medicines that they can instead of through an IV. This will help shed water because it makes her bowels work. Any interior movements will help her body push the fluids to where it is supposed to go. She also had two stools last night. That is the first since the transplant. She is slowly getting better. The next few days they will just be waiting for her lungs to finish drying out and her liver to shrink. Then they will look at closing her up again. We are patiently waiting for her to heal.

  1. This is such wonderful news, Brian. I feel so happy inside just reading this post.:)
Thank you for these regular updates. I look forward to reading about Lydia each day. I am so thankful her little lungs are clearing out and the fluid is lessening. What a sweetheart Lydia is...so strong. You all are constantly in our thoughts. I just want to give you a big hug and Janene too.

  2. Great news! It appears that her forward progress is going faster than her setbacks. Lets pray that it continues to be that way. I hope that Janene is continuing to improve as well and she is eating normal meals and getting her own strength back. I hope all of your family is doing well, considering all of the disruptions from normal life. Won't it be great to look back and say "we did it" and now things are almost normal. My feelings are that life is never normal, but almost normal is good.
My prayers and thoughts continue to be with all of you. God bless!!

Spenc and Lydia enjoying some brocolli (at least the taste of it for Lydia since she just sucks out the flavor and spits it out)
